Description
The Blog Village is an introductory course given via Zoom where seniors will learn all about the world of blogging and contribute personal content to a collective blog project on a theme participants choose. Our class blog can be a part of a legacy project, collective recipe blog, or a collective journal documenting life in isolation during the pandemic.
Blogging is a an expressive and therapeutic art-form, participants will be sharing stories, writing about them, gather or take photos, all-in-all build content and contribute to a collective blogging project. The process of sharing and building a digital platform collectively is stimulating, rewarding and unifying.
Who this program is for:
This course is intended for seniors with no digital experience, who don't know anything about blogs and want to learn about this digital art-form.
This blog can be adapted to adults with special needs as well.
Course Calendar
Week 1: Introduction to blogs and types of blogs.
Week 2: The motivations for blogging, the history of blogging and its impact on the media.
Week 3: The benefits of blogging and best-practices.
Week 4: Blogging platforms, and how to share blog posts.
In this class we will choose our Wordpress blog platform.Week 5: Writing, editing and scheduling for blogs.
In this class participants will be asked to provide 3 emails from friends or family members we can share our final blog with.Week 6: Finalizing our blog and sharing it with family.
*There are weekly assignments that are optional.
